Tea for two? Celebrating Afternoon Tea Week.

It seems there's a day for everything.

From National Peanut Butter Day (January 24) to Bring your Dog to Work Day (June 21), Coffee Week (14 - 20 October - yes, a whole week!) to International Pillow Fight Day (first Saturday in April), we love an excuse to celebrate.

And while some of these might be a bit of a stretch, 'Afternoon Tea Week' (12 - 18 August) certainly speaks to us.

And, it would seem, to lots of you, too!

We've been super busy this season and one of the things so many of our visitors have enjoyed most has been our afternoon tea.

Booked in advance, our selection of sandwiches, cakes and lavender scones (served with blueberry and lavender conserve) have been going down very well!

Paired with a pot of tea, coffee, or even Prosecco for a little extra sparkle, our tiered treats have been enjoyed both in the tea room, and outside, overlooking the lavender gardens and rolling fields beyond.

If you've been thinking about booking, there's still time. We will be harvesting the last of our lavender on 2 September.

Before the season is out, we thought we'd answer a few of the most commonly asked questions we receive about our afternoon teas.

What is included in the afternoon tea?

Our afternoon teas include a selection of finger sandwiches. Fillings can vary but a typical selection may include cucumber and cream cheese, ham and tomato chutney and coronation chicken.

Alongside these, a lavender scone - a firm favourite at Yorkshire Lavender - served with Rodda's clotted cream and our famous blueberry and lavender conserve.

A selection of cakes is also included. Again, the varieties may change but typically, this could be carrot cake, lemon and lavender drizzle, chocolate cake or brownie and ginger cake.

A pot of tea, or coffee is served alongside the tiered stand to wash down all those treats.

I'm vegan, can you cater for me?

Absolutely, we can provide vegan options. We can also cater for a gluten free or dairy free diet or simply swap out something you don't like for something you do. Our booking form has a place for you to make your requests.

I don't like lavender - can I swap out the lavender treats?

While we're obviously biased, we know not everyone enjoys the taste of culinary lavender! You can absolutely request an alternative. We have plain or fruit scones and a selection of cakes that don't include lavender.

Can I have coffee instead of tea?

You can. Those not partial to a pot of tea can have coffee instead, or a soft drink. And you can also take the option to upgrade to a sparkling afternoon tea with Prosecco if you fancy.

Fancy an afternoon tea at Yorkshire Lavender?

Whether its a treat for yourself or a gift someone someone else, a special occasion or just a 'why not?', an afternoon tea is always a great idea.
