So, what do volunteers do at Yorkshire Lavender?
Keeping the gardens glorious
With 60 acres of lavender fields and themed gardens, we have a lot of land to take care of. Keeping the gardens and grounds beautiful is one of the most important roles our brilliant volunteers play. From helping to keep the weeds down, to planting new flowers for our visitors to enjoy, tending to the lavender to ensures it looks amazing all season to helping keep the pond, loggery and bug hotel areas welcoming to wildlife, there's loads to get involved in outside.
We also have a plant nursery selling loads of varieties of shrubs, herbs and perennials. These always need attention to make sure they thrive before finding a home with our lovely visitors.
Maintaining the site isn't just about the gardening. It's also about engaging with the visitors who join us through the season. Our guests are curious about the plants - particularly the lavender, of course - as well as the views, the history and how we turn the lavender into our much-loved products. We love it when our volunteers get as enthusiastic as our visitors and share lots of facts and information to make their experience even more memorable!
Is there an age limit for volunteers?
There's no upper age limit! If you're over 16, active and willing to get stuck in and work together with the team then we'd love to hear from you.
When does it start?
We open to the public on 1 May 2025 but there's plenty to do before then to get everything ready for the season. We are open for volunteers now and would love to hear from you!
